The Indy Film Co-op’s Second Annual B Movie Celebration is nearly finalized. The event will be held in Franklin, Indiana, 26-28 September (we first announced it in this article in April). The weekend is held to honor “B Movie classics such as Forbidden World, Death Race 2000 (recently sequelized in the current Death Race), Night of the Living Dead, Night of the Comet, War of the Worlds, and many more.” The event will also feature the “world premiere of what are sure to be instant B Movie Classics. The Indy Film Co-op will premiere two of its own productions, Fresh Will Do You Good and the sci-fi thriller Blood Moon.” Blood Moon is about “a young woman, Annie Jacobs who attempts to escape her past by immigrating to the moon colony of Ganymede—only to have her past catch up with her.”
In addition to screenings, the Celebration will host a panel discussion about the future of the Internet and its effects on filmmakers. Panelists will include producer Jonathan Huer, Indiana University Professor Mark Deuze, International Film and Television Alliance Chairman Lloyd Kaufman, and several others yet to be announced. B Movie Celebration Co-founder Tom Barker said “We feel that it is imperative during this panel to get viewpoints from filmmakers, ISPs, and legislators. We also expect heavy press exposure, especially on a local basis.”
The Celebration will also feature a retrospective of the work of Jim Wynorski (Demolition High and 976-Evil) and a tribute to the fan classic HardWare Wars.
