SpaceWesterns Editor Nathan E. Lilly has announced the winners of his Space Western Senryu Contest (both the contest and the Japanese poetry form senryu were explained in this article). Judges Alana Joli Abbott, Seamus Kevin Fahey, and Mark L. Van Name chose one first place winner, and several second place winners. All of the poems are untitled.
The winner is John M. Whalen. Second place finishers include: Brandon Bell, Robert Borski, PS Cottier, Joshua Gage, Larry Hodges, Josh Kidd, Sandra Lindow, Karen L. Newman, Michael C. Rush, John W. Sexton, Jacob P. Silvia, and dan smith. Several of the second-place finishers appear more than once on the list. All those senryu which placed are available on this page.
A small corrections: Larry Hodges won second place and the other entries are listed as Honorable Mentions. Brandon Bell
