It turns out SFScope (in the person of me) will not be able to attend WorldCon this year. And I am seriously bummed about that.
However, since I’m not going, I’m looking for someone (or more than one) who is going to be in Denver starting in a few days who would be willing to put out a stack of SFScope flyers (for all those who haven’t yet heard of it). I can ship them directly to your hotel (so you don’t have to schlep them across country or whatever). All I ask is that you receive the package, take the flyers to the freebie table, and put them where appropriate.
Just click on the “Contact Us” link on the top of this page if you’re willing, and give me your name and the address of the hotel (or house, or whatever) where I can ship them. Thank you.
On a somewhat related subject, since I won’t be there to report on the con (either during or after), SFScope would love to have your opinion of the convention (either after or during): what did you see, who did you see, what did you enjoy, what would you have changed, how awesome is it to spend the week with so many people from so many places who have so much in common.… Feel free to e-mail (again, see that link up top), or I’ll also set up an open comment page each day of the convention, if you want to just comment the con directly. Again, thanks. And have a great time!
[Edited to add: we had several offers to accept and distribute the flyers at WorldCon. Thank you, all, for the offers. Thus, we are no longer looking for someone for that part of the article, but we’re still in the market for WorldCon reporters/bloggers.]
Man, I wish I could go to WorldCon. Unless I actually become a big SF name, I doubt it would ever happen, and if it did, it’d be a once in a lifetime kinda thing.
I’m going n 2009 – do you have plans for Montreal yet?
I don’t have specific plans for next year’s WorldCon, but since Montreal is within driving distance of the “palatial” New York offices of SFScope, I fully expect to be there.
