Actor Bruce Adler died 25 July 2008 of liver cancer. Born 27 November 1944 in New York City, his parents—Russian immigrants—were stars of New York City’s Yiddish theater. Adler joined his parents onstage for the first time at the age of 4, and thereafter, he spent most of his career on stage, acting, singing, and dancing. He was twice nominated for Tony Awards, for Those Were the Days (1991) and Crazy for You (1992).
His few screen appearances include some genre performances, notably: Beauty and the Beast (1991), Aladdin (1992), and Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1995).
Adler’s first marriage, to Isabelle Farrell, ended in divorce. He is survived by his second wife, Amy London (they married in 2003); his son, Jake (born in 2007); and two stepchildren.
