Frank Forte is debuting a new quarterly horror anthology comic, The Asylum of Horrors, this September through his Asylum Press. The premise of the book is that “a mad psychiatrist/doctor is running an asylum that has psychotics and killers as inmates. This doctor uses experimental treatments and hallucinatory drugs on them. Then he connects their brains to his and watches these inmates’ induced nightmares. This is the genesis of the stories inside The Asylum of Horrors. Each issue will have a beginning and end bumper tale to tie the issue together.”
The first, 96-page issue will have sixteen stories. In “Human Growth Hormone” by Frank Forte, a geek’s love for a girl drives him to desperate measures. “The Last Line” by Atilla Futaki explores a man’s bizarre train ride. Kevin Colden conjures up a Satanic yarn of lust and death entitled “Caveat Emptor”. Other tales include: “Love or Obsession” by Szymon Kudranski; “Madness”, a Lovecraftian horror tale by Marcin Ponomarew; “The Parts” by Riste Sekuloski; “Ruined Earth-CARNIGOR”, an apocalyptic zombie tale by Billy George; and “The Cannibal Man” by Robert S. Rhine. The front and end stories are rendered by newcomer J.C. Wong. There will also be two “one-page shockers by fan-fave Nenad Gucunja. Plenty of creep, gore, and twists for fans of horror comics old and new. The first issue’s cover features three seductress demons and is painted by the talented Aly Fell.”
Forte said “This is one book I’ve been working on for quite some time. I’ve always been a fan of horror and now I want to do the kind of book that pulls no punches. There will be a lot of good twists that you don’t see coming. We will give the reader plenty of psychological horror as well as blood and gore. I hope there will be something for everyone.”
