University of Kansas Libraries to sell large science fiction collection

The University of Kansas Libraries is having a science fiction book sale in their Watson Library’s third floor on Saturday 12 July from 8AM to 5PM. They’ll be selling books that have been acquired by the collections efforts of KU Emeritus Professor James Gunn (who is the director of the Center for the Study of Science Fiction), as well as the libraries’ duplicate holdings, and books that do not meet collection development guidelines. They expect to be selling about 6,000 books.
The sale, which will be open to the public, will offer hardcovers at $3 and paperbacks at $1. Proceeds from the sale will support processing and development for the science fiction collection at KU Libraries. Unsold books will be donated to a non-profit organization dedicated to literacy programs.
The Watson Library is on the KU Lawrence campus, 1425 Jayhawk Boulevard, Lawrence, Kansas 66045. For more information about the sale, contact KU Librarian Lea Currie at 785-864-8997, or see this page.
