Top Box Office Grossers: Fourth Week of June

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 20-26 June 2008. New release Get Smart topped the charts, taking in $57.3 million. Kung Fu Panda held onto the #2 spot, chopping its way past the Hulk. The Panda brought in $33.7 million for a three-week total of $167.6 million. The Incredible Hulk dropped from #1 to #3, grossing $31.4 million for a two-week total of $106.3 million. The Love Guru opened in the #4 spot, which pushed The Happening from #3 to #5; it grossed $14.9 million for a two-week total of $55.2 million. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull dropped from #5 to #6, bringing in $12.5 million for a five-week total of $294.9 million. Iron Man was down from #7 to #9, taking in $6.1 million for an eight-week total of $306.9 million. The Strangers fell from #8 to #10, grossing $3.3 million for a four-week total of $50.9 million.
It took two new movies opening in the top four to finally push The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian out of the top 10 in its sixth week in release. Caspian fell from #9 to #11 bringing in $2.9 million for a six-week total of $136.6 million. Nim’s Island switched places with Horton Hears a Who. Nim dropped from #17 to #19, earning $275 thousand for a twelve-week total of $47.1 million. Horton fell from #14 to #20, bringing in $275 thousand for a fifteen-week total of $153.8 million. Jumper returned to the top 25, at #22 (after falling out of the top 25 in the first week of April, which was its eighth week in release). This week, it brought in $225 thousand for a nineteen-week total of $80.2 million. Speed Racer fell fast, from #18 to #23, grossing nearly $225 thousand for a seven-week total of $42.8 million.
