SFWA President-elect Russell Davis will leave his current position as Western Regional Director of the organization when he assumes the presidency on 1 July 2008. Davis has announced that he is appointing Jim Fiscus to fill out the remainder of the WRD’s three-year term (which will end 30 June 2009).
Davis writes that Oregon-based Fiscus has been a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America since 1983, and has a MA in Middle East and Asian History. He has written for the SFWA Bulletin, chaired the Handbook Committee, served on the Membership Committee, and served as the group’s liaison to Westercon in the 1990s.
