TV/movie writer Seaman Jacobs dies

Television and movie writer Seaman Jacobs died 8 April 2008 of cardiac arrest. Born in 1912 in Kingston, New York, he wrote comedy for the early greats of television for more than 50 years. Some of the actors who spoke his words on their television programs include Bob Hope, George Burns, Lucille Ball, Danny Thomas, and Johnny Carson.
His genre work included: Oh, God! Book II (1980), Hong Kong Phooey (1974), Sigmund and the Sea Monsters (1973), I Dream of Jeannie (1967), The Addams Family (1964), and My Favorite Martian (1963).
Jacobs graduated from Syracuse University, where he started his writing career at the school’s humor magazine. After college, he moved to New York City and found work as a press agent, before serving in World War II.
