JoSelle Vanderhooft sold her poetry collection, The Memory Palace, to Norilana Books. Publisher Vera Nazarian calls the collection “striking,” and says it’s “a poetic memoir dealing with the raw themes of adolescence, pain, and the challenges of growing up gay, structured around the Renaissance mnemonic device of a building with rooms populated by thoughts and objects.” Norilana expects to publish the book in trade hardcover under its Curiosities imprint in January 2009.
Vanderhooft is the author of several other poetry collections, including The Minotaur’s Last Letter to His Mother, Ossuary (which was nominated for a Stoker Award in 2007), Desert Songs, Fathers, Daughters, Ghosts and Monsters, and Death Masks, as well as the novels The Tale of the Miller’s Daughter and Owl Skin.
