Character actor Stanley Kamel died of a heart attack 8 April 2008. Born 1 January 1943 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, he appeared most recently as Detective Adrian Monk’s psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Kroger, in Monk.
His genre film appearances include: Ravager (1997), Automatic (1994), Captain America II: Death too Soon (1979), and Bacchanale (1970). His genre television appearances include: Dark Angel (2000), Dark Skies (1996), MacGyver (1991), two episodes of Beauty and the Beast (1989 and 1990), The Highwayman (1988), Probe (1988), Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987; he played Kosinski in “Where No One Has Gone Before”), Knight Rider (1984), Mork and Mindy (1981), The Phoenix (1981), and The Incredible Hulk (1979).
Kamel attended Boston University and studied with acting coach Sanford Meisner. He appeared in off-Broadway stage productions before landing his first television role on Days of Our Lives in the early 1970s.
He is survived by his two brothers, Stephen and Robert.
