Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 14-20 March 2008. New release Horton Hears a Who opened in the top spot, taking in $56.5 million. Last week’s #1, 10,000 B.C., dropped to #2, garnering $21 million, for a two-week total of $65.8 million. New release Doomsday opened at #7, earning $6.3 million. The Spiderwick Chronicles dropped from #6 to #9, taking in $3.2 million, for a five-week box office take of $66.2 million.
Jumper jumped out of the top 10, from #8 to #11, grossing $2.7 million for a five-week total of $76.3 million.
The Eye and I Am Legend both dropped out of the top 25 (Legend for the second time). The Eye dropped from #22 to #31 in its seventh week in release; I Am Legend dropped from #24 to #30 in its fourteenth week in the theaters.
