Michael A. Burstein sold a collection of his short fiction to Apex Publications for publication in September. The volume, entitled I Remember the Future: The Award-Nominated Stories of Michael A. Burstein, will contain, well, his award-nominated stories.
Since Burstein’s first story, “TeleAbsence,” appeared in the July 1995 issue of Analog Science Fiction and Fact, he won the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, and has been nominated for the Hugo Award ten times and the Nebula three times. The book “will contain all of Burstein’s Hugo- and Nebula-nominated stories, plus two new stories: ‘Empty Spaces,’ the fourth, never-before-published story in the ‘Broken Symmetry’ series; and ‘I Remember the Future,’ which lends its title to the collection. The book will contain Burstein’s two most well-regarded stories, ‘Kaddish for the Last Survivor’ and ‘Paying It Forward,’ as well as his two Analytical Laboratory Award winners, ‘TeleAbsence’ and ‘Sanctuary.'”
A reprint of Bob Eggleton’s art will serve as the cover: the same painting that was the cover of Analog the first time Burstein’s story was the cover story of the magazine. And Analog Editor Stanley Schmidt (who first bought and published all the stories in the collection) will provide an introduction.
