The nominees for the 80th annual Academy Awards were announced this morning. Genre films received very few nods in the top categories.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences—the organization which gives out the Oscars—has said the award show will by on Sunday 24 February at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, and that it will be televised live by ABC beginning at 5PM PT, whether or not the WGA is still on strike and boycotting the ceremony.
