Top Box Office Grossers: Second Week in December

Variety reports the top 25 movies for the week of 7-13 December in terms of box office take. The Golden Compass opened at the top of the heap, grossing $31.9 million. Disney’s self-spoof Enchanted was pushed down to the #2 spot, taking in nearly $13.1 million for a three-week total of $86.3 million. Beowulf, therefore, dropped from #2 to #3, grossing $6.3 million for a four-week total of $77.9 million. Fred Claus held the #6 spot again, bringing in $5.7 million for a five-week take of $66.7 million. The Mist dropped from #9 to #10, grossing $3.5 million for a three-week total of $24.4 million.
Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium dropped from #12 to #13, earning $2.5 million for a four-week total of $29.5 million. The Polar Express, which was released in late 2004, finds itself again in the top 25, this week hitting #23 by taking in nearly $300 thousand for a, get this, 161-week total of $177.4 million.
