British author Stephen Baxter has agreed to join the 2008 Sidewise Award jury. The Sidewise Awards recognize the best in alternate history, and were formed in 1995 (the first winners were announced in 1996). Baxter won the first Sidewise for short fiction for his “Brigantia’s Angels,” and then won again the next year for his novel Voyage (he’s also been nominated three other times). Baxter has announced that he will pull his work from consideration while he is a member of the jury.
The other jury members are: Nicholas Gevers, Evelyn Leeper, Jim Rittenhouse, Stuart Shiffman, Kurt Sidaway, and Steven H. Silver. For more information, including the judge’s addresses to which publishers and authors should submit their work for consideration, see this page.
