Richard Labonté and Lawrence Schimel are reading submissions for an original science fiction anthology to be called Queer Utopias. They expect the book to be published by Arsenal Pulp Press in Spring 2009.
The editors are “looking for visions of queer utopias—whether these are self-contained, single-sex communities on our own Earth today; distant future worlds where gender and/or orientation are fluid; societies in which queer women and/or men co-exist apart from the hetero norm; or alien cultures where sexualities of all flavours are celebrated. Extrapolate from life today to imagine compelling ‘homotopias,’ where queers are the new normal.”
They’ll be paying based on the number of stories in the volume, and they’re looking for works up to 10,000 words. Deadline is 15 May 2008. For full details, see this page.
