Apex has just published Lavie Tidhar‘s collection HebrewPunk. The collection of three previously published stories and one new novella combine the usual fantastical tropes (vampires, werewolves, demons) with Jewish mysticism.
“The Heist” brings vampires and ultramodern technology against the ancient power of the Tzaddik and a golem.
“The Transylvania Mission” is the story of Nazi werewolf troops tracking a band of Jewish refugees through Hungary and Transylvania.
“Uganda” is the search for a new Jewish homeland in somewhere in Africa.
“The Dope Fiend” is a piece of London underground noir that crosses the line between the living and the dead.
Apex’s page about the book also has links to interviews with author and to “The Jerusalem Theatre,” a short story by Tidhar which was published in Apex Online.
