Bruce McAllister’s Humanity Prime back in print

Bruce McAllister announces that Wildside Press has just reissued his first novel, Humanity Prime, one of the original Ace Science Fiction Specials edited by Terry Carr. Originally published in 1971—and based on McAllister’s first published story, “The Faces Outside”—Humanity Prime is “the story of a telepathic aquatic race of humans on a distant planet thousands of years from now faced with annihilation.” The British forecasting journal Futures said of the novel: “A marvelous first novel… This beautiful description of a solitary race utterly lacking in mechanical civilization but enjoying a depth of communication unknown to us leaves one with the feeling that if there is a society of intelligent porpoises in Earth’s sea, it must be…like this.”
McAllister’s first collection, The Girl Who Loved Animals and Other Stories, was published in 2007 by Golden Gryphon Press and includes “The Faces Outside.”
