The Writers and Illustrators of the Future contests have announced the winners for the third quarter of 2007. Among the writers, first place goes to Ian McHugh of Hackett, Australia, for his story “Bitter Dreams.” Al Bogdan of Huntington Woods, Michigan, took second place with “The Girl Who Whispered Beauty,” and third place went to “The Bird Reader’s Granddaughter” by Kim Gillett of Rochester, New York. This quarter’s judges were Eric Kotani, Tim Powers, Robert J. Sawyer, and Dave Wolverton.
The three illustrator winners (they aren’t ranked) are: James Galindo of Palm Springs, California; Sean Kibbe of South Bend, Indiana; and Ilya Shkipin of Fremont, California. Samples of the winning illustrators’ work are available on this page.
