Odyssey 2008 details announced

The Odyssey Writing Workshop’s 2008 edition will be its thirteenth. It will run from 9 June to 18 July 2008 at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. The workshop was founded, and is still directed, by former editor and now writer Jeanne Cavelos. This year’s writer-in-residence will be Nancy Kress. Guest lecturers, who are present for one week each, will include Craig Shaw Gardner, Ellen Kushner, Barry B. Longyear, James Maxey, Delia Sherman, and agent Jenny Rappaport.
“I give the same unflinchlingly honest, concrete, detailed feedback to students that I provided to professional authors,” Cavelos said. “Along with that, Odyssey offers an advanced, comprehensive curriculum through in-depth lectures, providing the tools and techniques students need to improve.”
Class at the workshop meets for four hours in the morning five days a week. Students spend another eight hours a day writing and critiquing each other’s work.
Early admission application deadline is 31 January 2008 (regular admission deadline is 10 April 2008). Tuition for the six weeks is $1800, and housing is $700 for a double room ($1400 for a single). For more information and application requirements, see www.sff.net/odyssey.
