Bantam Dell opens an island in Second Life

Bantam Dell has opened their own island in Second Life (SL), named, cleverly enough, Bantam Dell Island. On the island, the publisher says, “you can sample books in our book shop and cafe, hang out with other book lovers on our beautiful island, and join our group. With occasional author events, podcast and trivia nights, and hosted book discussions, Bantam Dell Island is the perfect place to unwind.”
Upcoming virtual events on their virtual island include Podcast and Trivia Night on Tuesday 4 December at 6PM SLT at the cafe. The podcast features Dean Koontz, author of The Darkest Evening of the Year, and trivia questions should be IMed to Googo Lane in SL.
Bantam Dell is also introducing their “vBook,” with excerpts of new books, podcasts, and video interviews and trailers. The current vBook is Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden’s Baltimore, Or, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire.
This facet I’m still trying to figure out, but they’ve posted photos of their previous SL events on this page.
The address of Bantam Dell Island is http://slurl.com/secondlife/Bantam%20Dell%20Island/126/141/25 (of course, that link is only usable for Second Life members). For more information, for those of us who don’t yet have SL accounts, see this web page.
