Stage and screen actress Moira Lister died 27 October 2007 in Cape Town, South Africa. Born in Cape Town on 6 August 1923, she made her debut with the University Players of Johannesburg at the age of six, playing a prince in The Vikings of Helgeland. She made her London stage debut at the age of 14, and appeared on Broadway in 1948 in Don’t Listen Ladies!
Most of her work was on the stage and radio; she made fewer than 50 film and television appearances between 1944 and 2007, including a role in the 2000 miniseries The 10th Kingdom.
Her autobiography, A Very Merry Moira, was published in 1969. In 1951, she married the Vicomte d’Orthez, a French officer, who died in 1989. They had two daughters, Chantal and Christobel.
