Actor George Grizzard died of lung cancer 1 October 2007. Born George Cooper Grizzard, Jr., in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, on 1 April 1928, he was a famous stage actor who won the 1996 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play (he was in the revival of Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance) and the 1980 Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor (for his role in The Oldest Living Graduate).
His few genre appearances include the movie The Stranger Within (1974) and guest roles on television: two episodes of 3rd Rock from the Sun (1997 and 1998), two episodes of The Twilight Zone (1960 and 1963), and one episode of Thriller (1960).
