Variety reports the top 25 movies for the week of 21-27 September in terms of box office take. New release Resident Evil: Extinction topped the charts, taking in $28.8 million. Dragon Wars which opened last in sixth place, dropped to #10, taking in $3.3 million for a total of $9.3 million.
Halloween plummeted from #5 to #11, grossing $2.8 million, bringing its four-week total to $55.2 million. Transformers, which was down to #24 last week, rebounded to #16 this week, taking in $1.8 million for a 12-week total of nearly $314 million. Stardust dropped from #13 to #20, bringing in $754 thousand for a seven-week total of $37.6 million. Underdog held steady at #23, grossing an additional $478 thousand this week to bring its eight-week total to $42.4 million.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix dropped out of the top 25 in its eleventh week in release.
