Actress Alice (Margaret) Ghostley died of cancer on 21 September 2007. Born 14 August 1926 in Eve, Missouri, she won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her role in The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window in 1965. She may be best known for her roles as a “dizzy sidekick” in Bewitched (where she played Esmerelda in 16 episodes between 1966 and 1972) and Designing Women (she was Bernice Clifton in 24 episodes between 1986 and 1993).
