Fantasia Film Festival 2007 Awards

Fantasia, which bills itself as “North America’s Premier Genre Film Festival,” was held from 5 to 23 July in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Full information on the festival is on their web site. During the festival, they announced the winners of the Fantasia 2007 Prizes.
The winners in the feature film categories are:
Best Film: Memories of Matsuko by Tetsuya Nakashima (Japan)
Best Director: Feng Xiaogang for The Banquet (China)
Best Script: Han Jae-rim for The Show Must Go On (South Korea)
Best Photography: Li Zhang for The Banquet (China)
Best Actor (tie): Song Kang-ho for The Show Must Go On (South Korea)
     Ryu Deok-hwan for Like a Virgin (South Korea)
Best Actress: Mary McCormack for Right at Your Door (USA)

Best Quebec Short Feature: Flutter by Howie Shia (Quebec)
Special Jury Mention: Moi by Yan England (Quebec)
Special Jury Mention: The photography of Claudine Sauvé (specifically in François Blouin’s Hotel and Yan England’s Moi)
