In conjunction with this year’s SF Hall of Fame Inductions, the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle, Washington, will open “Out of This World: Extraordinary Costumes from Film and Television.” The exhibit will feature “more than 30 costumes and objects” from Battlestar Galactica, Blade Runner, Star Trek, Star Wars, Superman, The Terminator, “and many more of the most popular science fiction-related films and television shows of all time.”
The exhibit “allows visitors to examine how costume design incorporates color, style, scale, materials, historical traditions, and cultural cues to help performers and audiences engage with the characters being portrayed. Guests to the member opening (Friday 15 June) and the public opening (Saturday 16 June) are encouraged to wear their own fantasy, science fiction, or comic book character costumes to celebrate the exhibition.”
The member opening is free, but only for members of the museum, and will be 8-11PM on 15 June. The public opening runs from 10AM to 8PM on 16 June, and is free to members, $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students, and free for children under 5. Admission includes entry to the museum, at 325 5th Avenue North, Seattle, Washington 98109.
The exhibit runs from 16 June to 30 September 2007 in the museum’s third-level gallery space.
