New Editor for the SFBC

Paula Batson, Senior Vice President of Communications for BMG Columbia House has just announced several new hires in the book clubs that were recently the subject of many moves (see our earlier article “Major Changes at SFBC”). Most relevant to the genres is the hiring of Rome Quezada as Editor of the Science Fiction Book Club. He was once an associate editor at William Morrow “where among other his responsibilities, he read and evaluated submissions for their Science Fiction/Fantasy imprint, Eos, proposed projects for Eos, and consulted on jacket covers. Quezada was most recently the Associate Editor of The Good Cook and One Spirit, where he was responsible for selecting fantasy novels for One Spirit. He holds a B.A. in English from the University of California at Los Angeles.” Quezada’s LinkedIn profile says that he has been an associate editor at Doubleday Entertainment since October 2006.
Batson later told SFScope that Quezada will be the only editor on the club.
In addition, Deborah Sinclaire has been named Editor-in-Chief of Book-of-the-Month Club. She started her career with the book clubs in 1993, and has worked on the History Book Club and the Quality Paperback Book Club. Sinclaire was published in Qualiteria, a Quality Paperback produced literary publication, and is a contributing editor to the History Book Club Desk Calendar.
And Joseph Craig has been named Executive Editor of the History Book Club. He started his career with the book clubs in 1991, and has worked for the health book and science clubs. He became Executive Editor of the Scientific American Book Club in 2005.
