Science Fiction takes two Pulitzers

The 2007 Pulitzer Prizes have been awarded.
The Road by Cormac McCarthy (published by Alfred A. Knopf) won the $10,000 prize for fiction, which is given “for distinguished fiction by an American author, preferably dealing with American life.” The other nominees for the prize were After This by Alice McDermott and The Echo Maker by Richard Powers.
In addition, Ray Bradbury received “a special citation for his distinguished, prolific, and deeply influential career as an unmatched author of science fiction and fantasy.” A posthumous special citation went to jazz musician John Coltrane.
