Sword & Sorceresses XXII

Norilana Books has just come to an agreement with the Marion Zimmer Bradley Literary Works Trust to resume the Sword and Sorceresses anthology series, which left off with volume XXI (published by DAW in 2004, just after Bradley’s death). The new series will be edited by Elisabeth Waters.
The reading period for volume XXII will be from 23 March to 20 April 2007 (stories submitted outside that time period will be rejected unread). The guidelines state that they’re looking for stories “of the type generally referred to as ‘sword and sorcery’ and must have a strong female protagonist whom the reader will care about. See previous volumes of Sword & Sorceress for examples. We do not want stories set in modern times, or stories with explicit sex, gratuitous violence, or profanity. We do not want poetry.” The length limit is 9,000 words, and the pay rate is 5¢ per word.
