Changes to Apex Magazine submission guidelines

A press release from Lesley Conner of Apex Publications:

Apex Publications is pleased to announce changes to the Apex Magazine submission guidelines. These changes include upping our word limit for short fiction, increasing the pay rate, and new guidelines for poetry submissions.

For many years our submission guidelines have stated that we have a firm 5,000 word limit on short fiction submissions. Recently we decided to bump that up to 7,500 words, giving our authors more room to tell their tales and bringing our readers some longer pieces of fiction.

Also, we will be paying 6 cents a word for all original short fiction beginning July 1st.

Finally, we have set a 200 line limit on all poetry submissions, and all poetry must be original and unpublished.

The editors and publisher of Apex Magazine are dedicated to continuing our mission to bring our readers outstanding short fiction and poetry from the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres, and we believe that these changes to our guidelines are an important step in that direction.
