2014 Compton Crook Award Finalists

The Baltimore Science Fiction Society has announced the nominees for this year’s Compton Crook Award for the best first sf novel, published in 2013. The winner will be announced at this year’s Balticon, which will be held 23-26 May in Hunt Valley, Maryland.

The finalists are:

In the House Upon the Dirt Between the Lake and the Woods by Matt Bell (Soho Press)
The Enchanted Skean by Vonnie Winslow Crist (Mockingbird Lane)
City of a Thousand Dolls by Miriam Forster (HarperTeen)
Fire with Fire by Charles E. Gannon (Baen)
The Darwin Elevator by Jason M. Hough (Ballantine/Del Rey)
Shh! It’s a Secret: A novel about Aliens, Hollywood, and the Bartenders Guide by Daniel M. Kimmel (Fantastic Books)
Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie (Orbit)

Voting is open to members of BSFS. Votes are due by 15 April.
