Penguin Classics releases six horror novels curated by Guillermo del Toro

In May, Penguin Classics announced that filmmaker and horror aficionado Guillermo del Toro would be curating a new six-volume series of classic horror novels. The books are being released now, and Penguin has just revealed their covers.BT_AZ1_CAAA8Wva

“To learn what we fear is to learn who we are,” del Toro wrote in his series introduction, an essay titled “Haunted Castles, Dark Mirrors: On the Penguin Horror Series.”

The six-book series includes:

American Supernatural Tales edited by S.T. Joshi – a 512-page anthology with stories ranging (chronologically) from Washington Irving to Caitlin Kiernan.
