On 1 October 2013, membership rates to join Loncon 3, the 2014 World Science Fiction Convention, will rise as follows:

– Full Adult Attending membership rates increase from GBP 105 to GBP 115 (US$185 / Euro 145).
– Family membership rates, for two adults and two or more children, increase from GBP 245 to GBP 260 (US$430 / Euro 330).

As part of the convention’s policy to encourage families and children to attend Loncon 3, the following Attending membership rates, based on the person’s age as of 14 August 2014, for Infants (0-5 years old), Children (6-15 years old) and Young Adults (16-25) are unchanged:

– Infants (0-5 years old) at GBP 2 (US$3 / Euro 3)

– Children (6-15 years old) at GBP 30 (US$50 / Euro 40)

– Young Adults (16-25 years old) at GBP 65 (US$110 / Euro 85).

The rate for a Supporting membership is also unchanged at GBP 25 (US$40 / Euro 35).

Fans can also spread the cost of their Loncon 3 membership through an Instalment Plan. Under the plan, fans initially buy a Supporting membership and then pay the fee for conversion to Attending membership over three quarterly or four monthly instalments. The total charge for the membership will be frozen at the time of signing up to the plan.

Loncon 3 will take place in the ExCeL conference centre in London’s Docklands from 14-18 August 2014. The Guests of Honour cover the fields of fiction, comics, art, criticism, publishing and fandom: John Clute, Malcolm Edwards, Chris Foss, Jeanne Gomoll, Robin Hobb, Bryan Talbot and the late Iain M. Banks, whose life and work will be honoured at the convention.

Loncon 3 co-chair Steve Cooper said: “We’re firmly committed to making this Worldcon not just one of the biggest and best, but also one of the most accessible and family-friendly. We hope that many more people will join us as we count down to the big event in August”.

Co-chair Alice Lawson added: “There’s still time to buy a membership at the lower rates, before 1 October. We have fantastic guests and an exciting programme that will have something to offer everyone who loves the rich and diverse worlds of science fiction and fantasy.”
