Providence, Rhode Island, renames intersection for H.P. Lovecraft

An announcement from Necronomicon [thanks to Paul Di Filippo and Andrew Porter for the link]:

We’re VERY proud to announce that the Providence City Council has just approved of the renaming of Prospect and Angell streets, “H.P. Lovecraft Square”!!! Thanks to Councilman Sam Zurier for getting this through.

This is a significant step forward in our overall goal of bringing greater local recognition for old Grandpa, and of bringing HPL back to Providence.

This Square will now sit firmly in the center of Lovecraft’s eastside neighborhood, just one block north of the Hay Library, and one block south of his last home which sits at 65 Prospect (formerly 66 College). It’s a major thoroughfare for the HPL walking tours being planned by Donovan Loucks: http://www.hplovecraft.com/creation/sites/walktour.aspx. And will also be along the path of the new Augmented Reality app being created: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-call-of-lovecraft

Come and pay homage next month!
