64th Annual Emmy Award Winners — sf/f/h

NASA Television 2009 Philo T. Farnsworth Prime...

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners for the 64th annual Emmy Awards (for excellence in television) tonight. The winners in the creative arts categories were announced a week earlier, but we combine them all into this one article. Once again, it wasn’t exactly a banner evening for sf/f/h programs: out of 51 nominees, we took home 11 awards, all but one in the creative arts categories.

We’ve dropped “Outstanding,” which precedes the names of all the awards (rather than “best”) in this list. Genre winners (by show) include:

American Horror Story
     * Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a movie (Jessica Lange as Constance Langdon)
     * Hairstyling for a Miniseries or a Movie

Futurama
     * Voice-Over Performance (Maurice LaMarche as Clamps, Donbot, Hyperchicken, Calculon, Hedonismbot, Morbo in “The Silence of the Clamps”)

Game of Thrones:
    * Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series (“Garden of Bones”, “The Ghost of Harrenhal”, and “A Man Without Honor”)
   * Costumes for a Series (“The Prince of Winterfell”)
  * Makeup for a Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic) (“The Old Gods and the New”)
     * Sound Editing for a Series (“Blackwater”)
     * Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (“Blackwater”)
     * Special Visual Effects (“Valar Morghulis”)

The Walking Dead
* Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Miniseries, Movie, or a Special (“What Lies Ahead”)

Wizards of Waverly Place
     * Children’s Program
