Pill Hill Press's dark fantasy "Flesh & Bone: Rise of the Necromancers" contest

By Ian Randal Strock

Pill Hill Press, a "small, independent publisher specializing in horror, suspense, dark fantasy and science fiction," is running its second short story contest. Winners will appear in Flesh & Bone: Rise of the Necromancers, and there are cash prizes, too. First prize gets $125, second gets $50, and third gets $25. In addition, all the winners and runners-up receive copies of the book.

Judge Alva J. Roberts and editor Jessy Marie Roberts are looking for "your darkest, fiercest, most magical dark fantasy short story about necromancers and the undead rising. Stories can take place any time (past, present, future, alternate) at any place (Earth, Imaginary Places, Your Grandma's Kitchen Sink, etc.). Stories can be told from the perspective of good or evil or anywhere in between."

Entries must be 2,000-10,000 words long (they prefer 3,000-6,000), and the deadline is 31 July 2010. For full details, see this page.
