Andrew Porter writes to let us know that author Tom Deitz died 27 April 2009. Born in 1952, he had degrees in medieval English from the University of Georgia, and wrote nearly twenty novels. In 2007, DeepSouthCon gave Dietz the Phoenix Award, for "a professional who has done a great deal for Southern Fandom."
Deitz's literary output included the nine-volume David Sullivan series (which started with Windmaster's Bane in 1986), the Soulsmith trilogy, the four-book Tale of Eron, The Gryphon King (1989), Above the Lower Sky (1994), and The Demons in the Green (1996).
[Edited 28 April 2009: We originally typoed Deitz's name. Apologies.]
