Tribute and double feature honoring Forrest J Ackerman

By Ian Randal Strock

Steven H. Silver writes to let us know the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre will be presenting a free tribute to Forrest J Ackerman on 8 March at 4PM. The event will "celebrate his memory, friendship, and the legions of fans. Join us for testimonials from those who knew and loved Forry, plus film clips, slides, performances, and more. Profiles in History will display a few of the Forrest J Ackerman auction items they are handling, including some Bela Lugosi Dracula costumes and the robot from Metropolis. Confirmed guests include writer Ray Bradbury, filmmaker John Landis, and Famous Monsters of Filmland publisher James Warren.

The tribute will be followed by a film double feature: the 2007 documentary Famous Monsters:
Forrest J Ackerman
was Roadhouse Films's film biography of Ackerman. The 1964 film The Time Travelers, written and directed by Ib Melchior, features Ackerman in a cameo role.

The historic Hollywood theatre is located at 6712 Hollywood Boulevard (between Las Palmas and McCadden), Hollywood, California, 90028. For more information on the events, see this page.
