Actor Bernie Hamilton 30 December 2008 of cardiac arrest. Born Bernard Hamilton on 12 June 1928 in Los Angeles, California, he was best known for his role as police captain Harold Dobey on Starsky and Hutch.
He had several genre appearances, including: Galactica 1980 (1980), Scream Blacula Scream (1973), Captain Sinbad (1963), The Twilight Zone (1961), Kismet (1955), and Mysterious Island (1951).
His first appearnace was in 1950's The Jackie Robinson Story, and his last, a 1985 episode of The Love Boat. After many film and television appearances, Hamilton moved into music, producing R&B and gospel records for the Chocolate Snowman label.
