Actor George Takei marries Brad Altman

By Ian Randal Strock

Actor George Takei and his partner of more than two decades, Brad Altman, were married on Sunday 14 September at the Democracy Forum of the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony featured a Buddhist priest, Native American wedding bands, a Japanes Koto harp, a bagpipe procession, and two of Takei's Star Trek cast-mates: Walter Koenig and Nichelle Nichols served as best man and best lady. (The AP photo at right shows, from left to right, Nichols, Altman, Takei, and Keonig, offering the Vulcan salute.)

Takei's and Altman's vows are reprinted on Takei's web site. They show the love and devotion two people have for each other, and have had for many years.

We first wrote about the then-impending wedding in this article, days after the California Supreme Court affirmed the legality of same-sex marriages.

People has a brief article here, along with an announcement that they'll have more photos of the wedding in the issue that goes on sale Friday. Takei apparently finds this Washington Post article an acceptable reporting of the event, since he links to it from his web site.
