Tor.com finally goes live with massive blog, free fiction, and more

By Ian Randal Strock

Yesterday, Tor Books finally launched its new web site: Tor.com. The site features free fiction (currently "After the Coup" by John Scalzi and "Down on the Farm" by Charles Stross, with "The Leviathan" by Wesley Allsbrook coming soon), art work by a whole raft of artists, message boards under their "community" label, and the biggest feature of the site: a blog. Bloggers seem to include half of Tor's authors and nearly all of their present and past editors. Blog entries are dated back to 16 July, even though the site went live on the 20th. And juding from the sheer number of posts already available, keeping up may require almost as much time as Boing Boing. The blog posts talk about everything ranging from (based on a quick scan), conventions, art, fiction, science, computer games, movies, and history.
