Dragon and Dungeon magazines to end

By Ian Randal Strock

Paizo Publishing and Wizards of the Coast (WotC) have announced the end of Paizo's license to publish Dragon and Dungeon magazines. Their last issues will be September 2007 (which will ship in August), Dragon #359 and Dungeon #150. Both final issues will have special content commemorating the history of the magazines. "The Savage Tide Adventure Path" will conclude, as planned, in Dungeon #150.

WotC expects to move the content of the magazines to the web. "Today the internet is where people go to get this kind of information," said Scott Rouse, WotC's Senior Brand Manager of Dungeons & Dragons. "By moving to an online model, we are using a delivery system that broadens our reach to fans around the world. Paizo has been a great partner to us over the last several years. We wish them well on their future endeavors."

Paizo has alternative plans for subscribers with issues still due. They've set up this page to offer alternative magazines, back issues, or store credits.

Paizo has also announced plans for a new publication. For details on Pathfinder, see this article.

Paizo was originally spun off from WotC's periodicals division in 2002.
